Sherlock Retirement

Making estate planning, medicare+medicaid planning digestible, and more

Background: Working at Sherlock was a true 0-1 experience in creating content strategy and copy that made the dense world of estate planning, and choosing medicare + medicaid plans simple. I leaned hard on my expertise of becoming a rapid subject matter expert in this dense and complicated world so I could translate everything into plain english—and bring ease and relief to families navigating the world post-retirement.

My role: Senior (and only) Content Designer + Content strategist, in charge of

  • creating product copy and content strategy,

  • education systems scaffolding,

  • internal CMS creation for our agents and legal team, and more.

End state: Sherlock was in stealth at the time of my year+ contract, and did not launch after my contract ended. All images and projects are from early-state development.

Featured project 1: Onboarding flow

In tight coordination with our product, design, and legal leads, I created Sherlock’s initial onboarding and intake flow. Users filled completed this flow before setting up a call with their personal estate representative to refine.

Goal: Easy intake process, clear education points, low-friction.

Each section included:

  • Intro section

  • Input section

  • Summary review

Featured project 2: Internal CMS creation with Guru

Background: In order to scale internal knowledge between independent estate planning agents contracted by Sherlock, the creation of an internal knowledge base was crucial to the foundation of the company. I pulled on my expertise in creating knowledge base systems at Collective Health and Gusto to create the initial information architecture, update process, and content repository.

Examples: CMS Strategy, Permission + update structure, card best practices
